Ryan Wood
Kendall Street Company
Ryan Wood is a drummer based in Charlottesville, VA known for his work with the eclectic jam band Kendall Street Company. Starting as a seasoned pots-and-pans drummer at a very young age, Ryan began his formal drum education at age 8 with a focus on classical and marching percussion. Raised on a healthy diet of Beatles and Motown, he quickly became obsessed with listening to music across all genres and attending as many live shows as possible.
While attending the University of Virginia, Ryan was a member of the UVA drumline. It was during his time in college where he became a founding member of Kendall Street Company. He and the band have since toured extensively throughout the country.
With KSC, Ryan has developed a style of exploratory drumming with an emphasis on pocket and groove -- shaped from both marching band discipline and rock/jazz improvisation. Ryan cites his main influences as John Bonham, Stanton Moore, Questlove, Levon Helm, and Richie Hayward.
"From the first time I played a WTS kit I was hooked. I find the tone of the drums to be incredibly inspirational and am still blown away by how fast I can dial in the exact sound I am looking for. They also look quite stunning up on stage!"
