This winter we are excited to be participating in Making Montana! This two-day event for middle- and high-school students in northwestern Montana brings together makers, manufacturers, and tech companies!

Making Montana is About the Future

Participants will experience hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and learn about the 21st-century skills needed in the workplace today.

So you have a great idea for a product? What's the first step? Determining the viability of an innovation before investing in it is a great place to start!

At this year's Making Montana, we will be sharing our company's journey from idea to product with students. In particular, they will have the opportunity to work through the viability of their innovations based on the processes we first used to decide whether or not to develop the Welch Tuning System.

2 Days of Fun in Northwestern Montana

Making Montana is held each winter in Kalispell, a beautiful mountain town in northwestern Montana neighboring the ski town of Whitefish and just 45 minutes from Glacier National Park.

The Making Montana event takes place over the course of two days in the large Flathead County Fairgrounds facility. The first day focuses on the students. The Making Montana website describes the schedule and activities:

"Area schools will bring middle and high school students to the event from 8:30am-3pm. Makers, manufacturers and technology companies will demonstrate what they do and offer hands-on activities to engage students. Exhibits and activities will highlight the innovation, problem solving and collaboration skills needed in the work place today."

On day 2, both students and local families are encouraged to participate:

"This free event continues on Saturday from 10am-2pm, showcasing the amazing work of all kinds of makers, people who embrace the do-it-yourself spirit and want to share their creations with an appreciative audience. Exhibits will be interactive and highlight the process of making things."
